Roto-Rooter Plumbers Customer Survey .

Friday, October 16, 2009 by Roto Rooter Bloggers
Roto-Rooter Plumber received a positive customer comment recently that I'd like to share:

How a sewer line is excavated and repaired using traditional digging methods"The Minneapolis plumbers at Roto-Rooter were very helpful with my plumbing emergency from start to end. The crew did a great job handling our sewer repair. Thank you. I know who to call for my all of my plumbing emergencies from now on. Roto-Rooter is my Minneapolis plumbing company of choice."

During her emergency, we noticed a problem with her main sewer line. We sent out a sewer solution specialist to locate the problem underground. Our Technician noticed an offset and other breaks in her main line, which we fixed with an excavation. We know that it's reassuring for our customers to have a Minneapolis Plumbing company that has all the tools to get the job done, whether it's a sewer cleaning, complete sewer repair, kitchen plumbing jobs or a simple faucet repair in the bathroom.

One Stop Cincinnati Plumbing Company Gets an "A" on Their Report Card

Wednesday, October 14, 2009 by Roto Rooter Bloggers
On a recent service call our Roto-Rooter Cincinnati Plumbers were recognized for doing it right. Below are excerpts from the actual customer letter.

I had a pretty serious problem over the weekend, and called Roto-Rooter. Nick W. came out and we assessed the dilemma. He called Tom L. to pump the septic tank and then Nick W., returned to finalize the job and clear the line. Upon our last inspection with a video camera (which is invaluable) we discovered a bow in the discharge line.

I decided to fix the problem and Nick gave me an estimate and had Jim G. on site in a short period of time to dig up the spot and make the necessary repairs. I have dealt with many companies in my 60 years, and can honestly say that these gentlemen were experienced Cincinnati plumbers and had the customer's best interest in mind. As the president of our local homeowners association, I will notify our neighborhood about this outstanding service! - Tom R. Homeowner New Richmond, OH

Good job guys, you did great!! Way to show Roto-Rooter is the place to call when you need a great Cincinnati Plumber!!

Service Call Success

Tuesday, October 13, 2009 by Roto Rooter Bloggers
Recently, one of our customers needed the service of a Baltimore Plumber. It was late on a Thursday night but when she called us she was greeted by a friendly Roto-Rooter representative and help was soon on the way. Following the plumbing services she received, she wrote in to tell us about her service experience.

"Just wanted to say thank you for your quick response to our call tonight. It was late and we thought there was a serious problem. We were afraid to use the water or toilets until someone came out to check. A Roto-Rooter plumber came promptly and checked out everything. He explained things to us and did a great job. Although there was no major problem, it seemed that their was an issue with the sewer work that had been done by city workers in our neighborhood. This apparently caused a sewer backup and a problem in our downstairs toilet, which began overflowing. We were impressed with the professional service on the phone and with the Baltimore plumber you sent out. Thank you so much. Too bad other Baltimore plumbing companies don't model their business after Roto-Rooter. We will definitely call you again and recommend your services to anyone needing a Baltimore plumbers."

- Rose R. Towsen, MD.

This was our first service call to Rose. We work hard to satisfy each and every one of our customers. We are very pleased to read replies from our valued customers. Thanks Rose!

We can help you with a broken pipe

Tuesday, October 13, 2009 by Roto Rooter Bloggers

Norfolk plumbers will assist you 7 days a week 24 hours a day. Call 1-800-GET-ROTO and get your pipes inspected with our specially made fiber optic cameras, which allow for a visual inspection of underground sewer lines and other piping. This allows us to determine the condition of the inside of your home's pipes. A bit about the process is below:

A flexible rod with a high-resolution video camera on its tip is inserted into the pipe for inspection. It will be able to identify if your sewer line needs to be replaced, if a pipe is broken or damaged by roots in your house in the Hampton roads area.

We would like to make the job as painless as possible! Our professionals will use the "open cut" or "trench" method to gain access to the area surrounding the damaged portion of a pipe. A backhoe may also be used to open and refill the work area. Typically, a job of this type doe not take more than a day to complete; the water will be running and  the drains in your home will be working in less than 24 hours!

Man falls into septic tank: Neighbor's dog alerted rescuer

Friday, October 9, 2009 by Debbie Smith

In the news recently there was a story about an 80-year-old man who fell into his septic tank while cleaning it. He was rescued after his neighbor’s dog wouldn’t stop barking in direction of the septic hole. The neighbor found the man in the hole and called 911. This elderly man was trapped in his septic tank for over five hours.

For those of you unfamiliar with a septic tank, it’s a system for disposing of sewage where public sewage systems are not available. Typically, it’s a buried watertight holding container in which waste solids settle to the bottom and become sludge. Enzyme and bacterial action break down liquid waste before it is discharged into a drain field for further treatment by the soil to remove harmful bacteria and viruses. Septic tanks require periodic pumping and cleaning of sludge in order to ensure proper water levels and treatment of wastewater. Flooding and drain backups can occur if the sludge is not removed and the water level gets too high.

Periodic inspections and regular pumping are important factors in maintaining a septic system. Septic systems should be inspected at least every three years by a professional who will check for leaks, measure the sludge level and recommend a pumping schedule based on the size of the system and number of people using the system. Failure to properly maintain a septic system can be expensive if the entire system has to be replaced and dangerous to humans and the environment if untreated wastewater leaches into the ground.

The man mentioned above was fortunate that he was rescued with only minor injury. He was swimming in wastewater—full of bacteria—and could have been overcome by toxic gases or been seriously injured in the fall. He is not the only person to become trapped in a septic system.

Lessons to be learned:

  1. Septic system cleaning and maintenance should be performed by a professional with proper equipment.
  2. Septic tanks should be kept covered with an approved lid.
  3. Never enter closed spaces without proper safety equipment.
Rely on Roto-Rooter for complete plumbing and drain cleaning services, including septic and sewer cleaning, sewer repair, bathroom plumbing solutions, clogged drains - 24 hours a day, every day!

Roots in your pipes.

Thursday, October 8, 2009 by Roto Rooter Bloggers
In the Norfolk area as anywhere else root intrusion in pipes is one of the most common causes of pipes to clog and brake. If not disturbed, the roots will completely fill the pipe with multiple hair-like root masses at each point of entry. A complete blockage may occur if the roots are not removed and root growth impeded. The increased pressure caused by roots often breaks the pipe and may result it total collapse, which requires repair or replacement. One of the biggest roots found in the Hampton Roads area was a root that grew from a customer’s sewer line to the city man hole is was approximately 2 feet in diameter and 4 feet long.

If roots have entered your pipes a Norfolk Roto-Rooter technician can remove the roots using powerful cutting blades on the end of a drain cleaning cable. Your experienced neighborhood Norfolk plumber will recommend the application of Roto-Rooter ® Root Destroyer™ to retard future root growth. Roto-Rooter® Root Destroyer™ will kill only the roots growing in the pipes and will not affect the rest of your tree’s root system or the health of the tree. Simply pour the recommended dosage into your toilet bowl and flush the product into the line twice a year. Roto-Rooter® Root Destroyer™ is available only from your Roto-Rooter service technician in Hampton Roads area or at the local Norfolk Roto-Rooter office.

sewer excavation

Thursday, October 8, 2009 by Roto Rooter Bloggers
Roto-Rooter recently received a complimentary letter from a satisfied customer in St. Petersburg, Florida. He called a few St. Petersburg plumbers trying to find a reasonable and cost effective solution to his problem. Customers in need of a sewer repair are often shocked at the cost of such a job and even more shocked at the mess that a traditional dig job can make of their property. But this customer was very happy when we were able to handle the complete sewer repair without having to dig up his yard using a technique called trenchless sewer repair.

"I have had drain problems for years, until recently I have been using local plumbing companies and have been told that my sewer line would need to be replaced and that my driveway would need to be cut and busted up. Since a driveway replacement was not within my budget I called around and got some quotes. Roto-Rooter came out and informed me that they could perform the job without tearing out my driveway, reluctantly I went with the trenchless option and was pleasantly amazed with the outcome of the job, the sewer line has been replaced and all is fine. Best of all, the driveway in its original condition. Great job to the Roto-Rooter team in St. Petersburg, FL.

Trenchless Excavation

Monday, October 5, 2009 by Roto Rooter Bloggers
Embracing new technology in our Industry is what sets Roto Rooter apart from other Seattle plumbers. Having the skill and equipment to replace a mainline and conduct a complete sewer repair for our customer without disturbing the meticulously maintained landscaping of a 100 year old home in Seattle is one of many key differences between Roto-Rooter and most other plumbers in Seattle.

As Kyle H. writes. "Thank you so much for sending Mike and Joe to our house to give us an estimate for replacing our sewer line. After the video camera inspection of the pipe and locating of the sewer line was done, they determined that it was running under a bed of Rhodies that were planted by our children many years ago. We did not want to disturb the area or any of our other landscaping but felt we had no choice. Your service technicians understood our concerns and informed us that we can do a sewer replacement by digging a hole at the house where the pipe exited and another at the sidewalk where it was still in good shape, and that they would "pull" new pipe through the 67' distance between the 2. WOW! We couldn't believe it. They did the sewer job the next day and we can't even tell that anything was done. We now have a new sewer that will outlive us. Please let Mike and Joe know how thankful we are for their expertise and effort. From now on Roto-Rooter is the only Seattle plumber we will call.

- Kyle H. Seattle Washington
