Jamel Robinson responded to our Saturday afternoon call for a plumbing problem at our home in Manassas, after we were unable to get other plumbing companies to respond to our calls until the following Monday. We had sewage backed up into our house, which had begun to overflow into the bathroom and needed an immediate response.
Jamel assessed the situation gave us an estimate and went to work right away. While he was running the snake through the sewage line , we heard a very loud pop that broke his cable. While the line was clear and water was flowing through the pipe he called Craig Webb to come out and check the line with a camera. Craig showed up shortly after and ran the camera through the line. He found that roots were growing into the line. He and Jamel explained the situation to my wife and I and prepared an estimate to repair the sewer line.
We were so impressed with the outstanding service we received and the absolute professionalism of Jamel and Craig and used them to complete the additional job. Clogged drains are quite a common service call for the Raleigh plumbers here at Roto-Rooter and we are fully aware of the issues that can arise from clogs. When liquid drain cleaners fail to eliminate a clog, the next option is to use a snake. People can end up spending a lot of money on liquid products or blow bags, which will sometimes clear a clog, but typically only lead to a temporary fix.
A snake will scrape the clog, grind up and push out whatever is blocking the main line. Once you are able to clean it completely, you can maintain the drain by using an enzyme cleaner that eats away at soap, grease and 
hair; our Roto Rooter Pipe Shield is highly recommended.

A Raleigh plumbing customer recently wrote in to inquire about a plumbing problem they have been having with their toilet:
“I always have to hold down on the handle for my toilet to flush, why is this happening/can this be fixed?”
You are in luck, the answer is simple and this issue can be easily fixed. The chain connected to the flapper is too long. The chain should be no longer than ½ an inch longer than the handle arm at rest.
How to fix:
When the handle trip lever is all the way down on the inside of the toilet, remove the chain and hold it alongside the trip lever arm. Then, move the clip from the chain (fits in the holes of the trip lever) so it does not rise more than ½ an inch above the arm. Re-attach and flush to ensure that it is working properly.
If this does not work, the flapper is most likely water logged or broken. In either case, it will need to be replaced.

New construction in Westbury has caused plumbing problems at a commercial customer's location, which will require using our high power jet. After doing a camera inspection on the main line, it seems the contractor used duct tape on the joints of the pipes and although that could be normal practice for the contractor, some of that tape is working its way through the joints causing the lines to backup. Our recommendation to the customer is to high power jet the line to try to clear most of the tape and other debris out of the line.

One of our
Seattle plumbers was sent out to a remote location to fix some plumbing problems at a vacation home in the dead of winter. It was to be his last job of the day since it was getting late.
