Newbie

Jennifer CanavanHello!  This is my first blog for Roto-Rooter.  My blog will focus on everything from commercial plumbing to random thoughts (hopefully for your sake, more of the former!).  I'll discuss topics such as pesky restaurant kitchen plumbing problems, to how businesses can save money with Roto-Rooter Business Advantage, to unusual events around the country.  Feel free to contact me at Jennifer.canavan@rrsc.com if there are any topics you'd like for me to discuss.*

*Disclaimer:  As the commercial marketing manager, I'm not a plumbing professional by any means, but I do think I understand what businesses want and need from us, and I'm all ears if you have any suggestions! Enjoy!

Back to School!

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 by Jennifer Canavan

Wow, did summer fly by again!  I can't believe it's almost back to school time for my kids.

I was thinking earlier that the maintenance manager at my children's school must love summertime...  No plumbing problems or plumbing repairs due to kids clogging the toilets with too much toilet paper, or spinach from the lunch mom packed that they don't want to eat!

Most moms and dads, on the other hand, are probably happy to ship their little ones back to school to avoid these same issues!  Thankfully, there has only been one instance in my household of a kid-induced near plumbing crisis (knock on wood).  My son “accidentally” dropped my cell phone (thank goodness this was before I had my beloved iPhone) into the toilet before school one day.  I quickly retrieved the phone before it went down the drain, avoiding having to call a plumbing specialist (Roto-Rooter of course!).

So here's to the maintenance guys at schools all over the country who deal with our children's clogs all year long!  Thankfully Roto-Rooter provides emergency service 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to help these guys out!

Roto-Rooter and REIA

Friday, July 10, 2009 by Jennifer Canavan

I recently went to the National Real Estate Investor's Association's mid-year conference in San Antonio.  Before attending, I wasn't too familiar with the association, so in addition to promoting our partnership benefits to REIA presidents and board members, I learned as much as possible in two days about the association.

They are a really neat group to work with, and they sure do know how to have fun!  This group invests in residential and commercial properties, fixes them up and either rents the properties or sells them.  These days we all know it's not as easy to flip properties, so many of them are being rented.  The group is all about education so that it's members can make the most of their investments.

Where Roto-Rooter comes into play is when a property is purchased, one of the first things that needs to be taken care of is the plumbing and drains.  REIA members will call Roto-Rooter for anything from sewer repair to kitchen plumbing jobs, at 10% off*.  Many of them have said they only call Roto-Rooter because we provide 24 hour plumbing with no additional charge for nights, weekends, or holidays.  We get the job done right the first time, and we are extremely reliable.  It was good to hear all of the kudos from the REIA members.  I am very excited to work with this group.  They have been absolutely friendly and extremely helpful as we're forming this new partnership at both the national and local levels.  Thanks REIA!

Plumbing and Technology... likely partners?

Thursday, June 18, 2009 by Jennifer Canavan
Plumbing and technology don't sound like likely partners, but more and more we're finding that our residential and commercial customers are using their iPhones, Blackberries, and other devices to find us on the web.  They learn about us, call us, and even schedule service from these devices.  We're also finding that a lot of our customers prefer to receive coupons via email and online as well as the traditional method of U.S. mailed coupons.

Commercial plumbing and residential plumbing may be an old trade, but we old dogs can learn new tricks too!  We're always striving to be easy to do business with.  If our customers say iPhones, we say ok!  And don't worry, for those of you out there who still prefer the more traditional methods, the phone book and landline aren't going anywhere just yet.

So next time you have a plumbing problem, find us whatever way works for you, and we'll be happy to fix it right the first time.

Roto-Rooter Business Advantage

Wednesday, June 10, 2009 by Jennifer Canavan
Ahh, the economy.  Many businesses are feeling the squeeze, and my guess is that the last thing they (you!) want to spend money on is fixing plumbing and drain problems.

Roto-Rooter Business Advantage is one way to keep the costs down if there is a commercial plumbing problem or emergency.  We have 24 hour plumbing, 365 days a year, with no additional charges for nights, weekends or holidays!*  How many other plumbing companies can say that, and mean it?!

Roto-Rooter Business Advantage also provides coupons year round.  Next time you call in for service, just ask the customer service representative to sign you up.  It's free, and takes no time at all to sign up.

For more information on Roto-Rooter Business Advantage, or to obtain a coupon for service, click here, or go to rotorooter.com/commercial.  Enter your zip code to see if your location is eligible for the Business Advantage program.

We sincerely hope you don't have a plumbing problem or emergency, but if you do, we are ready to solve it for you quickly and efficiently.
