Roto-Rooter does a lot of local plumbing jobs in a given month. As the number one Northern Virginia plumbers, we do our best to satisfy our customers but often we can't know whether a customer is pleased unless he or she takes the time to tell us about their service experience. We received a letter recently that I'd like to share:
Mr. Jamel Robinson, Roto-Rooter of Northern Virginia Plumbing Technician, should be commended for the excellent job at our residence in Falls Church Virginia on August 17th and 18th. Conditions were bad: high heat, humidity, and gnats. But Mr. Robinson managed the plumbing job very professionally. The next time we need a Northern Virginia plumbing company, we will contact Roto-Rooter and ask for Jamel Robinson.

We welcome feedback from all of our customers, whether good or bad. How else can we know where we need to improve? Many of our customers first called us for drain cleaning or sewer repair but while we're in their homes, we've were asked to adjust a water heater, fix a toilet, etc. Those are the times we feel we're given a chance to show our stuff and demonstrate the quality of our work. Visit our
home page to learn more about the residential plumbing and commercial plumbing services we offer. Or just call us at 703-257-1025.

When we think of Seattle, most of us think of rain. But this has been kind of a dry season for the Pacific Northwest, and conversely a "dry season" in terms of business demand for Seattle plumbers, Plumber Tacoma works too. Plumbing repair companies that replace lots of sump pumps and handle sewer repair work and sewer cleaning to remedy flooded basements, found themselves high and dry this fall at a time when they would prefer to be low and wet. But not many homeowners in the Seattle-Tacoma area were complaining. After all, those jobs are costly and these days extra cash is in short supply for most families.
But alas, the rains have returned. Last week saw normally tame rivers flooding beyond their banks and the abnormally dry ground became saturated once again. Looks like the humble Plumber Seattle is once again going to be a man in demand if the rain continues. Commercial plumbing as well as residential plumbing services should begin returning to their normal paces if the rain sticks around, for better or worse.

Roto-Rooter is a full service Washington, DC plumbing company. We have a large staff ready to assist you with any residential or commercial plumbing problem. This testimonial came in the other day.

"Mr. Lal Puia was a good service technician. He arrived on time and did a thorough job on my kitchen plumbing job and provided us a free estimate for some bathroom plumbing problems that we want him to fix in the near future. As his boss, I wanted to let you know that he was very pleasant and is a good representative for your company. Roto-Rooter is my new Washington, DC plumber."
- Andrew M. - Washington, DC

We believe customer testimonials are the best way to show our prospective customers how well we do our jobs. Roto-Rooter wants to be your Glenview plumbers. We know you have a choice when it comes to Glenview plumbing

companies, so we try harder to satisfy our residential plumbing customers in the suburbs. This customer letter shows what I mean:
"Our serviceman was extremely neat in appearance and very conscientious about keeping the rest of my basement clean. He even protected the carpeted stairs with a cover before taking his tools and Roto-Rooter machine downstairs. I appreciate the fact that he gave me a quote, left so I could call my husband who was out of town and then came back to perform the service once we made our decision to go with your company -- all on a Monday morning. I used to use another Glenwood plumber but when he wasn't available, I called your company. What a refreshing service experience. Thank you!"
- Karen A.

Besides residential plumbing services, Roto-Rooter is also equipped to deal with any and all commercial plumbing problems. Visit our local

How to Remove Gravel from Your Pipes
Finding the right help for your Tampa plumbing requests, whether you have residential plumbing or commercial plumbing problems, is usually pretty simple. If you need a plumber in Boston, you would probably search “plumber Boston” and be connected with a local plumbing company. Likewise, if you live in Phoenix, you might search “plumber Phoenix”. BUT, what do you do if you manage, as one customer did, to get GRAVEL IN YOUR PLUMBING?
There are two main systems and it is necessary to determine where the gravel is located.
- Drainage System: If gravel has entered here, it can be pushed out using a snake or water jetter.
- Water System: The first step is to determine how it entered the plumbing. From here, you would need to eliminate the source of the problem and then flush the system.
Roto-Rooter can assist you with this or any other plumbing repair—help is just one call away! The Tampa plumbers of Roto-Rooter are always available at your convenience, call 1-800-GET-ROTO to schedule a service call.
This was a fun little letter to receive from a local business here in DC. Commercial plumbing can be tricky but Roto-Rooter is equipped to deal with any and all commercial plumbing jobs from toilet repairs to water heater replacement to complete sewer repair and everything in between.
"Service was very good. Roto-Rooter sent out one of their Washington DC plumbers

to take a look at a problem we were having with our commercial grade
water heaters. We have two and as luck would have it, both stopped making hot water on the same day. What are the chances? Anyway, your man looked them over for several minutes with me looking over his shoulder the entire time. He tried a few different things before figuring out the problem. It turned out to be a simple fix but while he was there, he was very thorough and discovered another unrelated problem that was a carbon monoxide hazard and he took care of it in no time and for what I consider to be a fair price for his expertise."
Safety is our most important concern both for our service technicians and our customers.

At Roto-Rooter, we gear up big time for football season. As restaurants, sports bars and homes all over the country fill up with college and NFL fans this season, Roto-Rooter will be standing by in case of a plumbing or drain emergency. Commercial plumbing, residential plumbing, we do it all!
We hope your team wins, and we’ll be on standby to help your venue stay open all season!
A Philadelphia restaurant owner called in today looking for some Philadelphia commercial drain cleaning freedom. It was the lunch rush and one of the floor drains was backing up quickly into the front of the store. If you've ever worked in the plumbing industry or been involved in food service you understand right away, if not, this means the back up was out with the customers, where they place their orders, or in some higher end establishments, the lobby or bar area. This is bad news for business. The fact was, customers were exiting the store, loudly in some cases, some would-be patrons, simply stepped in with one foot and quickly withdrew and headed for her competition a few doors down.

Not so surprisingly she was in a panic, she used us as her Boston plumbing company before she relocated to Philly, and said a colleague from her company also referred her to us as her Philly commercial plumbing expert. After, listening a bit she finally settled down knowing the Roto-Rooter plumbing gurus were to arrive shortly. Within 30 minutes our Superhero with a High Pressure Water Jet was on site. If you haven't seen a "jet" at work, it's phenomenal at stripping the "goo" out of a drain line (more on another blog). Bottom line, the drain backup was blasted through, the line cleaned of any further debris, guarantee rendered, they cleaned up, got themselves together and were happily serving customers before the final rush faded.
These types of backups, and kitchen plumbing repairs occur when you least expect it. Typically during the peak times of your business. We'll be back in 3 months under a Preventative Maintenance agreement to keep the rest of the lines running clear as well... during the off hours to prevent any more loss for their business. Thanks Philly Owner, you chose the right company!
We're Roto-Rootering our way through the social networks in the Web 2.0 world. You won't have to look far to get advice on kitchen plumbing jobs on our blogs, Tweets about where to find coupons on Twitter, information about the science of sewer cleaning on Facebook or a local page or two on MySpace.
The point is that we're trying to go where you are, not to be a spammer but a helpful friend that is easy to find when you need a friend most...like say when the commercial plumbing fails in a bottling plant on a Sunday afternoon or when someone is dealing with a leaky faucet in Baltimore. Social networks are just another way to stay within easy reach. After all, shouldn't a 24 hour plumbing company be highly accessible?
Follow us at Twitter under @RotoRooter and here's our main page on Facebook. You'll even find a Roto-RooterTV channel on YouTube where you can see pet rescues, old commercials and instructional videos for DIYers. Then check out our photos on Flickr.
If you haven't heard yet, Roto-Rooter has compiled a fun bathroom reader book called Chilling Tales from the Porcelain Seat. It's a collection of strange and funny stories
from our army of plumbers about the wild things they've witnessed on the job doing mostly residential plumbing but also some strange commercial plumbing adventures are included. One story from the book involved a plumber in Chicago who used a fiber optic camera to retrieve a $5000 prosthetic eyeball that a man dropped down a sink drain. The eye went all the way to the main sewer before it was skillfully plucked out by Roto-Rooter. The man washed it off and stuck the eyeball right back in his socket!
This is a vignette-style bathroom reader, small enough to fit neatly on your toilet tank lid. Mostly the book is just flat out funny. You'll laugh out loud at some of the crazy things people do and there are even some photos that will shock you. Roto-Rooter teamed with its two most famous plumbing contractors, Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson of TV's Ghost Hunters, who provided commentary in the book.
The book is 100 pages of light, fun reading while on the john. It's only $12.95 and shipping is free. Order your copy here. And enter the Roto-Rooter Chilling Tales sweepstakes to win your chance to go on a real ghost hunt at Colorado's Stanley Hotel with Jason and Grant.

Plumbing and technology don't sound like likely partners, but more and more we're finding that our residential and commercial customers are using their iPhones, Blackberries, and other devices to find us on the web. They learn about us, call us, and even schedule service from these devices. We're also finding that a lot of our customers prefer to receive coupons via email and online as well as the traditional method of U.S. mailed coupons.
Commercial plumbing and residential plumbing may be an old trade, but we old dogs can learn new tricks too! We're always striving to be easy to do business with. If our customers say iPhones, we say ok! And don't worry, for those of you out there who still prefer the more traditional methods, the phone book and landline aren't going anywhere just yet.
So next time you have a plumbing problem, find us whatever way works for you, and we'll be happy to fix it right the first time.
Ahh, the economy. Many businesses are feeling the squeeze, and my guess is that the last thing they (you!) want to spend money on is fixing plumbing and drain problems.

How to Get Rid of Problem Tree Roots
One problem that often plaques homeowners and usually requires professional assistance from licensed Northern Kentucky plumbers is when tree roots enter the underground piping. While most construction companies have moved from clay or cast iron to plastic pipes, a more root-resistant material, powerful roots from large trees can still gain entry to residential plumbing as well as commercial plumbing.
In dealing with bothersome roots, there are two options:• Reline or replace the network of underground pipes
• Have the pipes regularly cleaned and maintained
Both repairs will be expensive; replacing or relining the pipes will treat the problem all at once with one large expense, while the latter solution would cost you money annually.
Because
Roto-Rooter offers 24 hour plumbing, we can take all your Northern Kentucky plumbing calls day or night and can help treat your root-related plumbing problems around the clock.
As consumers, we're hunkered down, not spending money on anything that can't wait for greener pastures. Well, you can green up your plumbing and those greener pastures will be here before you know it allowing you to recover your initial investment.
one of the greener bathroom plumbing solutions is to replace inefficient old toilets with a water-sipping 1.28 gallon per flush model, or even a 1.6 gpf model. If you aren't willing to spend $200-$300 on a more efficient toilet, consider other aspects of your bathroom plumbing Tacoma Roto-Rooter or any other location can replace your toilet fill valve with a more efficient model that will save up to three quarts per flush! That's instant savings that will add up to money in your pocket in short order.
Today's low-flow shower heads are much better than they used to be. You really can't feel the difference anymore. Add one of these and watch your savings grow. Whether dealing with residential plumbing or commercial plumbing, Roto-Rooter or most local plumbing companies can save you greenbacks as you become a little greener. There are kitchen plumbing jobs that can save water too.
My wife was at the hair dresser's the other day and someone noticed the stark white PVC pipes under the washing sinks clashing with the modern black and tan interior of the shop. When she got home, she asked me if colored PVC pipes were manufactured for commercial plumbing.
There are a number of manufacturers that have begun to make colored PVC pipes, but most of it is furniture grade and not for plumbing. Outdoor furniture is often made manufactured out of colored PVC pipe because like to have color options, but the wall thickness for furniture grade is less than that of a drain pipe. It is not widely available for something like sink plumbing and would have to be ordered in large quantities. Until the hardware stores begin to carry it, it may be difficult to come by even for for plumbing contractors.
The easiest way to color your PVC sink plumbing pipe is to paint it since paint readily sticks to the pipe. Spray paint for plastic works the best, but check the can and follow the instructions prior to applying it.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a die-hard do it yourself type. However, not all of us DIY guys have the same abilities, nor do we follow a set standard for
a job done right. When it comes to plumbing repair, there isn't much margin for error. It's either done right or wrong and sometimes there are serious consequences for a local plumbing job done wrong.
Those pesky plumbing codes are there for good reason. Plumbing problems demand the know-how of experienced plumbing contractors. The photo at right makes the point rather well. This was an actual jury-rigged clean-out port cap discovered by one of Roto-Rooter's licensed plumbing specialists. No, a basketball lodged in a pipe port does not follow any local plumbing code I've ever seen. The Tulsa plumber thought it was funny enough to photographs with his cell phone camera.
