Beware of roots

September 22nd, 2009 by Roto Rooter Bloggers

Many Bridgeport plumbers have been called upon to deal with root issues. Once roots have entered piping, they continue to grow and expand, exerting considerable pressure at an existing crack or joint. The increased pressure often breaks the pipe and can ultimately result in total collapse, which requires repair or replacement.
Some pipe materials are more susceptible to root intrusion than others. Clay tile pipes are easily penetrated and damaged by tree roots. Whereas concrete and PVC pipes may also allow root intrusion, but to a lesser degree than clay. PVC pipes usually have fewer joints, which are tightly fitted and less likely to leak as a result of settlement around a pipe.
